The power of TGIF
Wine, Vaseline and Sharp Objects
The soundtrack for this is here and it’s super cute.
Back in the day I used to do network marketing. I know it’s annoying but you do what you got to do for your family and that was what was available to me as a stay-at-home-mom when we moved to Canada. I couldn’t believe how much I missed my old job as a public servant… as much as that place was toxic [especially in January], I missed it. A job sometimes is more than what you do. More often than not, it’s you identity. And it definitely was mine.
Anyways, one of the appeals of working from home is flexibility. Any day/time is good for business and that is indeed awesome but you lose the #TGIF. That day when , when all ends and you’re finally here ONLY for the fun. And not selling your time alive to survive on this planet, but this is not supposed to be philosophical…
Lately, I’ve been having great Fridays. Simple pleasures I suppose.
All I need after my religious workout is a drink, food ready to go, the view from the 34th floor and make-up removal. And that’s exactly my point: vaseline is the best make-up removal ever. I know folks from my nwm company will screech lol - but it fucking is.
The story behind it
A few weeks ago, an influencer was accused of having cheated on her husband with a certain very famous rock n’ roll singer from the late 80s, early 90s… think long ginger hair ;-)
Anyhoo, she’s an influencer and with all the gossip (turned out to be all it was), she got lots of new followers, me included, and she did what she does best: she influenced me into using vaseline as an eye make-up remover.
So I decided to give it a try and it’s awesome. I used to get my eye make-up removed in the shower but it was never enough and I’d always got out of the shower looking like a panda but not anymore!
So the best way to do the vaseline thing is with a cotton pad or ball. You get some v on that pad and rub it your eyes. Best is one pad for each eye and a third to kind of go a bit deeper… I can’t wait for tonight :-)
It’s nice and gooey, no perfume which is great. The pediatric one (it comes in a pink jar) smells a little like Johnson & Johnson baby scent and it also doesn’t bother me. Not one bit. After that I take a shower and clean my face with face soap of course and because v is so gooey it stay a bit on around your eye giving it extra moisture. Win-win.
Then, there’s wine. Lately my faves are (still) Luigi Bosca and an Austriac white wine with a green cap - I’m sure folks in LBCO will help you out because there aren’t very many wines from Austria over there, and I gave you the green cap. Easy.
[I googled and found an image… it’s the one in the middle. Up here.]
Sharp Objects is a TV show I’ve been watching on Crave. Or HBO if you’re not in Canada. The plot is about a crime reporter, Camille Preaker (played by Amy Adams, Lois Lane from Man of Steel), that returns to her hometown to write a piece about a couple of murders (of little girls) that had happened there. She finds herself deeply involved with that, and also back into the town’s day-to-day ordinary life as memories of her childhood surface. She is forced to face and deal with some serious issues of her own (sharp objects). And there’s her super creepy mother too…
I haven’t finished it yet so no spoilers. Thank you.
Signing off,
C xox.
